Structure and design go hand in hand. In this section, we’ll outline the materials we used for insulation, framing, cabinetry, and finishes.
A big thank you to our fellow van friends, Daniel and Lauren. Their calm and creative presence supported and guided us throughout the build. We came away with a beautiful new mobile home and lifelong friends.
Walls, Cutouts and Insulation
Dometic Mini Heki Skylight - great way to add natural light and ventilation from ceiling
Arctic Tern Double-Pane RV Window 300x700MM - includes inner blind and bug screen
3M Thinsulate - insulation
Marathon Tweed Fabric - to line open metal spots on walls, use before installing ceiling, wood paneling, etc
Kilmat Car Sound Deadening - use on metal under insulation to reduce road noise
Ford Transit Front Cab Bundle - provides privacy and insulation
Ceiling, Floors, and Cabinets
Ceiling Cedar Board, V-Plank (6 per package) - stain, polyurethane, or paint wood. Purchase from Home Depot or a local lumbar yard
Shiplap Board Pine - our bedroom walls. Primed to be painted, can be purchased from Home Depot or a local lumbar yard
1/2 Baltic Birch - high quality and water resistant. Stain, sealant, or paint wood. Purchase from a local lumbar yard.

Beadboard - 1/8 thickness is lightweight, adds texture. We used as door panel. Ready to stain, seal, or paint
Lifeproof Floor - vinyl floor, waterproof seal, mold/mildew resistance, install as floating floor around cabinets (floor can shrink/expand)
3/4 by 3/4 Quarter Round Moulding - used below cabinets and above floating floor
Rubber Flooring used for Garage Space - many texture options available
Unfinished Birch Butcher Block - we bought ours on sale at Home Depot
Adhesives, Binds, Sealants, and Kits
Contact Adhesion - used to attach insulation and tweed fabric to walls
Lap Sealant, Self Leveling - used to seal our maxx air fan and skylight on roof
OSI Quad Max Clear - clear sealant adhesive used for our Zia tile backsplash in kitchen
